Empowering Youth, Building Futures.

Nepal Aki

Nepal Aki is a Nepalese non-profit NGO dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth through education and training in the field of hospitality.

Our mission is to provide them with essential academic and practical skills that help them develop their potential, build confidence, and create a future full of opportunities. Some of the courses we offer include barista, baker, bartender, cook, and sushi chef training.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. That’s why we work passionately to create a safe and supportive environment where they can achieve their dreams and become independent and agents of positive change within their communities.

Cocina Mitho Chha is much more than just a hotel and restaurant – it’s a sustainable social enterprise that brings our dreams to life.

Since 2010, our project has enabled our nonprofit, Nepal Aki, to be self-sustained through our B&B, restaurant, and cooking classes.

Whether you're looking for a cozy place to stay or a delicious meal, Cocina Mitho Chha offers a unique experience in a welcoming environment. Enjoy a stay in our comfortable BnB, savor authentic Nepali flavors in our restaurant, and support a meaningful cause all in one place. We’re not just a place to eat or sleep – we’re a home for our community and a space where you can be part of something bigger.

Namaste, I am Debendra Pokharel, born in Gorkha and living in Kathmandu with my mother, wife, and two sons. Since 2012, I have been working as a social entrepreneur at Cocina Mitho Chha, a sustainable hospitality school and social enterprise.

Starting my career as a waiter, I dreamed of creating an institution where skills and dignity meet opportunity. Today, over 8,000 youth—including orphans, differently-abled individuals, and those from disadvantaged families—have been trained in barista, bakery, cooking, bartending, and service, gaining confidence and independence. My guiding belief is: Skill First—anyone can learn, anyone can achieve.

Beyond hospitality, I co-founded Peepalbot Agriculture Cooperative and launched Fresco Himalaya Agro, connecting 300+ mountain farms to markets through coffee, herbs, and eco-friendly farming. From earthquake relief to COVID-19 support, I believe helping others is humanity. My journey is proof that leadership is built on heart, vision, and courage.

Narbina Pokharel has been a dedicated board member of Cocina Mitho Chha since 2012, actively contributing to its mission of empowering communities through hospitality, training, and social initiatives. A proud mother of two children, she balances family life with her deep commitment to social service, making her a strong advocate for positive change.

Her passion lies in creating opportunities for underprivileged youth, supporting education, and fostering sustainable development. Narbina’s leadership and compassion have been instrumental in guiding the organization’s growth, while her personal values of empathy, responsibility, and service continue to inspire those around her and strengthen the community.

Namaste, I am Uttam Pokharel, originally from Gorkha and now living in Kathmandu with my wife and two sons. With long experience in adventure tourism, I have dedicated my life to arranging travel, tours, and trekking activities across Nepal. I have also traveled to Europe a few times, which has broadened my vision and strengthened my passion for hospitality and tourism. I truly enjoy my work and approach life with a positive mindset. Since 2012,

I have been serving as a Board of Directors member at Cocina Mitho Chha, a sustainable social enterprise and school of hospitality. I believe strongly in youth empowerment, as young people are the future of Nepal and the world. Training, guiding, and supporting them will create a brighter tomorrow. In my opinion, collaboration, partnership, and helping one another are the real strengths. Together, let us work for youth and build a better future for Nepal.

Namaste Everyone, I am Pawan Dhakal, born in Dhading. Now I have been living in Germany for the last 28 years with my wife and two children. My life’s journey has taken me across different countries, working in the aircraft manufacturing industry and hydro machinery business, where I gained handsome experience and vision for building sustainable futures.

For the past 10 years, I have proudly served as a board member of Cocina Mitho Chha, a school of hospitality and social enterprise in Nepal that empowers youth through skills, dignity, and opportunity. I am a founder and executive member of the German NGO Zukunft fuer Nepal Ostwuettermberg e.V. Germany and also involved with the Sheskanta Foundation Dhading, a nonprofit technical school built with the vision of youth empowerment by skilling them.

I believe youth are our future. With collaboration, shared expertise, financial support, and technical knowledge, we can open doors for thousands of young people. Together, we can create sustainable projects that change lives and communities. Let us unite our hands and hearts for youth empowerment.

Hey everyone, I am Ramesh Prashad Dabadi, living in Bhaktapur with my wife and two children. Professionally, I am a corporate lawyer, but since 2012, I have proudly served as a board member of Cocina Mitho Chha, a school of hospitality and sustainable social enterprise.

For me, being part of this journey is more than a responsibility—it is a commitment to shaping the future of Nepal. At Cocina Mitho Chha, we train youth in hotel and hospitality skills, equipping them with confidence, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods. Skills are powerful; they not only create jobs but also transform lives.

I strongly believe in collaboration. Nepal urgently needs skilled people across all sectors, and hospitality is one of the fastest-growing industries with immense potential. By empowering young people with the right training and opportunities, we can strengthen families, communities, and the nation’s future together.
